WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, said he is “doing better” after a weekend fall knocked him unconscious.
According to The Associated Press, the accident occurred while Romney, 73, was visiting his grandchildren last weekend in Boston. He said he was treated at an area hospital, where he received stitches on his lip and eyebrow, the news agency reported.
Romney, a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump, seemed to take the injury in stride, joking Monday to reporters: “I had kind of a tough, tough weekend. I went to [the Conservative Political Action Conference]; that was a problem,” according to the AP. Trump and former U.S. Rep. Jason Chaffetz, another Utah Republican, criticized Romney at the Orlando, Florida, event, which Romney did not actually go to, CNN reported.
