SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. — A South Carolina man has been charged with murder after admitting to fatally shooting his daughter’s boyfriend Monday morning.
According to deputies with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, Kenneth Lewis, 72, of Roebuck was arrested after Lorn Kyle Wofford, 39, of Pauline died at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, WYFF reported.
According to the incident report, Lewis' daughter was Wofford’s girlfriend and was walking beside him at about 9:45 a.m. when her father drove by in a silver Toyota 4Runner, shot Wofford and drove away.
Lewis, who confessed to shooting Wofford, is also charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime, WYFF reported.
Deputies told the TV station that a possible motive for the shooting was that Lewis believed Wofford was responsible for burns his daughter reportedly suffered from a kerosene heater four days earlier.
According to the incident report, Lewis' daughter had bandages on both hands and arms after being released from the Augusta Burn Center.
