State police: 10-week-old puppy tossed from vehicle along Idaho interstate

NAMPA, Idaho — Authorities are searching for someone who threw a 10-week-old puppy from a car that was traveling along an Idaho interstate highway Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Idaho State Police, troopers received a call around 2:20 p.m. from a witness who said the Shih Tzu puppy was thrown onto Interstate 84 in Nampa, the Idaho State Journal reported.

According to a District 3 news release, the woman said she saw the dog being thrown from the vehicle, but she could not identify the vehicle or describe who was inside it.

The trooper called Canyon County Animal Control, and officials picked up the animal, the ISP said. Officials at the Humane Society said the puppy suffered some road rash around his mouth and paws, but was not seriously injured.

“The little dog will have a bright future,” the ISP said in its news release. “The woman who stopped to help the pup says she will adopt the dog if a proper owner isn’t found.”

Authorities continue to investigate the case.
