CHANNELVIEW, Texas — A 17-year-old boy armed with a shotgun killed two people during an attempted home invasion in suburban Houston on Friday night, authorities said.
According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the shooting occurred in the Channelview area east of Houston at about 10:40 p.m. CDT, KHOU-TV reported.
Upon arrival, deputies said they located two men with apparent gunshot wounds on the lawn near a residence, KTRK-TV reported. The men were pronounced dead at the scene, Gonzalez wrote in a tweet.

Investigators said the two men and a third unidentified suspect were armed and wearing masks during an “attempt to force entry” to the home, according to KTRK.
An adult woman, two 17-year-old men and a 12-year-old boy were inside the home at the time of the shooting, KPRC-TV reported. Investigators said one of the 17-year-olds grabbed a shotgun and began firing at the alleged intruders.
After the shooting, the third suspect fled the scene in a dark-colored, four-door vehicle, according to the television station.
No one inside the home was injured.
Gonzalez tweeted that the investigation was ongoing, and that the case would be presented to a grand jury.
