The TSA has upgraded airport security checkpoints to help reduce or fully eliminate physical contact.

The agency has also been recruiting new workers to deal with more passengers and is making sure that those who interact with the public directly can get vaccinated, the TSA said in a news release.

Normally, spring break is one of the busiest travel seasons, but the TSA still expects this one to be below the average of years prior to the coronavirus pandemic.

The TSA has also shared tips to make sure that the time spent in the security checkpoint is not only safe but short.

Those tips include:

  • Wearing a face mask, which is mandatory on all public conveyances and at stations, ports or other transportation hubs.
  • Leaving prohibited items at home. Click here for a list of what isn’t allowed past the checkpoint.
  • Leaving guns in checked baggage. Any firearm has to be declared at check-in and properly packed
