West Virginia doctor indicted on federal sexual contact charges

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A West Virginia doctor is accused of sexual contact charges, according to a federal grand jury indictment filed Wednesday.

Kenneth Ramdat, 65, was charged with two counts of abusive sexual contact and two counts of simple assault, according to documents filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia.

Ramdat, a physician at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, is accused of touching two women’s breasts without permission in August 2019 and October 2019, WVVA reported.

Ramdat faces up to two years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for each of the sexual contact counts, and up to six months of incarceration and a fine of up to $10,000 for the assault counts, WBOY reported.

The Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General, the FBI, the Veterans Affairs Police and the Clarksburg Police Department investigated the case, the television station reported.

Ramdat is listed on several websites as a “family medicine specialist.”

In a statement, hospital spokesperson Wesley R. Walls called the charges “serious allegations.”

“These are serious allegations, and VA has no tolerance for this alleged behavior,” Walls stated. "That’s why this individual has been removed from patient care and has been isolated from fellow employees.

“VA has asked law enforcement officials for evidence in this case to support personnel actions and will take appropriate action once law enforcement officials provide that evidence.”

Walls said the VA is also conducting an investigation, WBOY reported.
