Zion National Park hiker found alive after nearly 2 weeks missing

UTAH — A hiker missing in Zion National Park for nearly two weeks has been found alive, her family confirmed Sunday.

Holly Courtier, 38, was located Sunday by the National Park Service after receiving a “credible tip” from a park visitor who had spotted Courtier inside the park, CNN reported.

Courtier had last been seen Oct. 6, entering the park. Courtier was dropped off by a private shuttle bus at the Grotto picnic area and had been scheduled to be picked up at 4:40 p.m. the same day but never returned, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.

A Zion official told the Tribune that Courtier was able to leave the park with her family but provided no other details on her condition or where she was found.

Courtier’s family said in a statement that they are overjoyed she has been located safe, thanking the rangers and search teams “who relentlessly looked for her day and night and never gave up hope” as well as the “countless volunteers” who were “generous with their time, resources and support.”

“This wouldn’t have been possible without the network of people who came together,” the Chambers-Courtier family said in the statement.
