Jake Guentzel selected to the 2020 NHL All-Star Game

PITTSBURGH — In a season when the Pittsburgh Penguins have been plagued by injuries, Jake Guentzel has managed to stay fit and healthy, appearing in all 38 games the team has played so far this season. He was selected to the 2020 NHL All-Star Game for the first time.

Held the weekend of Jan. 24-25, the event features a 3-on-3 tournament and a skills competition.

Guentzel becomes the 37th player in team history selected to the NHL All-Star Game. He leads the Penguins in goals (19), points (40) and game-winning goals (4). He is tied for 12th in the league in goals and is tied at ninth in game-winning goals. Guentzel has tallied 13 goals and 30 points while playing at even strength.

He’s helped the Pens to the fifth best record in the NHL at 23-11-4 with 50 points.

Guentzel will represent the Metropolitan Division.

For the second straight year, defenseman Kris Letang has been named a ‘Last Men In’ candidate for the All-Star Game. The final skater for each division will be chosen via fan voting.
