Pirates hire David Burke to serve as new executive vice president of sales & business development

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates have hired David Burke to serve as the team’s executive vice president of sales & business development. As part of the day-to-day tasks of his new job, Burke will lead the organization’s sales of tickets, partnerships, events, and premium additions as well as oversee the Pirates’ business analytics departments all while remaining focused on enhancing fan and partner engagement.

Burke joins the Pirates following his role as executive vice president & chief strategy officer at Denver-based Kroenke Sports and Entertainment Group which oversees the business operations of the Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rapids and Colorado Mammoth teams. Prior to his more than seven years of experience supervising revenue strategy and business intelligence at Kroenke, Burke served as the president of the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League, a professional ice hockey team affiliated with the Minnesota Wild.
