Pirates planning for 25 percent capacity during Spring Training

PITTSBURGH — Fans weren’t allowed at PNC Park during the shortened 2020 season due to the pandemic, and that doesn’t look like it will change for 2021 either.

However, fans who want to see the Pirates live in action during the spring might get their chance.

The Pirates announced Monday that they will allow approximately 25% capacity at LECOM Park, their Spring Training stadium in Bradenton, Fla. The team has 17 “home” games in Bradenton during March.

The team said tickets will be available in “seating pods” of two and four people per transaction. Social distancing guidelines are being followed in accordance with the CDC.

The first phase of ticket sales will be exclusive to Pirates Spring Training season ticket holders and corporate partners. That is set for Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. and will run through Feb. 7.

Any remaining tickets will go on sale Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. For more information, click here.

Other COVID-19 safety guidelines for fans attending these games include:

  • Mandatory face coverings inside the park at all times, unless actively eating or drinking
  • New bag policy - only medical and diaper bags allowed inside the park
