When you see the numbers, you can see why he didn’t end up back with the cap-strapped Steelers. The Eagles are signing Hargrave on a three-year, $39 million contract, which includes a guaranteed $26 million.
The Steelers had to make a number of moves to get under the salary cap after extending the franchise tag to Bud Dupree, so there wasn’t enough money to pay Hargrave.
In four seasons with the Steelers, Hargrave played in 63 games. He recorded 14.5 sacks in that time, including four sacks in 2019.
