PITTSBURGH — Good news sports fans - the NFL season is set to begin as scheduled on Sept. 10, the league announced Wednesday.
For the past six weeks, there have been no games or practices held for any major American sport.
The NHL and NBA both had their seasons interrupted, while MLB delayed the season before Opening Day. All three leagues are now working on plans for when they will be able to resume play.
The NFL, on the other hand, was in its off-season when the COVID-19 pandemic struck America, and has not yet had practices or games impacted. The league did have to make other adjustments though, including holding what commissioner Roger Goodell referred to as a “virtual draft.”
Brian McCarthy, an NFL spokesperson, said the league’s schedule will be released May 9.
Should be out by May 9th as we've said. Kickoff slated for Sept. 10 and the 101th season concludes w/ Super Bowl LV in Tampa on Feb. 7, 2021. https://t.co/8YizywybGJ

McCarthy also said the Super Bowl is still scheduled for Feb. 7 in Tampa.
