The NFL expanded its playoff field this year to include a seventh playoff team in the field. Despite that, there’s a chance an 11-win team could be left out of the postseason in the AFC.
So much for watering things down.
The Steelers clinched their spot in the AFC playoffs a couple of weeks ago. And they secured the AFC North title with their 28-24 win Sunday over the Colts.
It’s expected that Mike Tomlin will sit a number of starters in next Sunday’s game at Cleveland against the Browns.
But even if the Steelers lose that game, they’ll be one of just two teams in the AFC playoff field that will hold a winning record against the other teams in the postseason.
