Giant Eagle donates more than $15K to food bank based on Penguins’ goalie saves

PITTSBURGH — Giant Eagle donated more than $15,000 to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank on Tuesday, after making a pledge to donate $10 for every save made by the Penguins’ goaltenders during the 2020-21 regular season.

Tristan Jarry, Casey DeSmith and Maxime Lagace combined to register 1,524 saves, putting the donation at $15,240.

“At Giant Eagle, we are passionate about stepping up to support our communities,” said Jannah Jablonowski, Giant Eagle Spokesperson. “We are thrilled to partner with the Penguins to help fight food insecurity in our region and are honored to make this contribution to Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to celebrate saves made by our talented goaltenders this season.”

The Penguins and Giant Eagle have teamed up on and off the ice to support and help the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
