PITTSBURGH — You can never have too much goalie depth.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins signed goaltender Shane Starrett to an AHL contract for the 2020-21 season, the team announced on Tuesday.
Starrett, 26, was the backup for the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors last season, recording a 3.63 goals-against average and an .874 save percentage. He was the Condors' starter in the prior season, posting a 2.33 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage.
He was named to the AHL’s All-Rookie Team and Second All-Star Team. He made his professional debut in the 2017-18 season in the ECHL with the Wichita Thunder, and played in the league’s All-Star Game.
