Penguins’ GM considering Hockey Ops moves

PITTSBURGH — Jim Rutherford might have made the final offseason addition to his major-league roster when free-agent defenseman Cody Ceci agreed to a contract with the Penguins Saturday.

That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s finished making moves, however.

Rutherford is expected to add at least one person to the Penguins' Hockey Operations staff, perhaps as an advisor, and possibly alter some responsibilities among its other members soon.

“I’ve been looking at things here for a while now, what we’re going to do with the hockey department and potentially adding an experienced guy,” he said. “I’d like to get to that (this week), or certainly in the near future.”
