Penguins release roster and training camp details

PITTSBURGH — The Penguins released some details about their training camp and their training-camp roster.   The NHL begins Phase 3 of its Return to Play plan on Monday, when the Penguins begin their training camp at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.

Penguins camp will last 13 total days, before the team travels to its hub city of Toronto on July 26.   The Penguins broke out the 13 days this way: Eight days of practice, two off days and three “game day simulations” which will include an intra-squad scrimmage.

The practices are closed to the public.

The Penguins are carrying 34 players on their roster to start training camp, including 19 forwards, 10 defensemen and 5 goaltenders.  Nick Bjugstad, Dominik Simon and Zach Trotman are not part of the roster.  All are sidelined with injuries.
