Penguins send message to fans during coronavirus outbreak: ‘Our mission hasn’t changed’

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Penguins sent a message to season ticket holders on Friday, updating them on the team’s activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the letter, Penguins president David Morehouse told fans that employees are still working from home and are available for season ticket holders who have questions.

He also said that most of the players are still in Pittsburgh and working from home with Skype and videos from the team’s trainers at their home gyms.

The NHL previously allowed players to return to their homes out of market.

Morehouse went on to say that GM Jim Rutherford and head coach Mike Sullivan are working daily with their staff to go on a Stanley Cup run if the season resumes.

At this point, it is unclear when or if the regular season and playoffs would take place.

Below is a part of the full letter sent by the Penguins organization:

“Our Mission hasn’t changed: To win the Stanley Cup, energize and inspire our fans, positively impact our community, and advance the game of hockey. That Mission Statement sits at every Penguins employees’ desk. This crisis will end, and we will be ready both on and off the ice.”
