Penguins’ Sidney Crosby activated off COVID-19 list, expected to play Thursday

PITTSBURGH — Penguins Captain Sidney Crosby has been activated off the COVID-19 list and is expected to play Thursday night, according to Penguins officials.

Assistant Coach Todd Reirden has also passed the COVID-19 protocol and has been cleared to return to his regular coaching duties.

Crosby and Reirden were put on the list and were not with the team for Tuesday’s night thrashing of cross-state rivals, the Philadelphia Flyers.

Being placed on the COVID-19 protocol list doesn’t necessarily mean a player or coach has the virus.
