Pens promote director of amateur scouting to assistant GM

PITTSBURGH — The Penguins promoted the organization’s director of amateur scouting to assistant general manager Wednesday.

Patrik Allvin, a native of Sweden, will be entering his 15th season in the Penguins' organization. He joined the club as a European scout beginning in 2006 and he most recently held the title of director of amateur scouting for the last three seasons.

In his new role, Allvin will assist general manager Jim Rutherford as well as retain his previous duties with scouting. Before joining the Pens, Allvin worked as a European scout for the Montreal Canadiens.

Allvin is former player, enjoying a nine-year career among various leagues in North America and Europe.
