Channel 11 News brings home gold in February

PITTSBURGH — WPXI-TV Channel 11 was the most-watched station in Pittsburgh and the #1 source for local news (A25-54), during the most recent Nielsen sweeps period, which ran February 1 thru February 28.

  • Channel 11 Morning News from 4:30-7 a.m. ranked #1 with adults 25-54 and showed growth of over 50% in each show over 2017.  The 6 a.m. hour was the highest rated among all LPM markets across the country.
  • From 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Channel 11 News had the strongest growth in the market over last year, and finished first with adults and women 25-54 at 6 p.m.
  • Channel 11 News 11 at 11 was #1 with both adults and women (25-54, M-SU).  During the Olympics, it was the highest-rated 11 p.m. newscast among all LPM markets in the Eastern Time Zone.
  • Overall, WPXI saw tremendous growth in viewership in February 2018 vs. February 2017, across all newscasts.

Even though the Steelers weren’t in the Super Bowl, that didn’t stop Pittsburghers from tuning in to Channel 11 and NBC on Sunday, February 4.

  • During the big game, Channel 11 finished third in the country among LPM markets (A25-54), behind only the two home-team markets of Boston and Philadelphia.
  • Channel 11 News 11 at 11 after "This Is Us" was highest rated in the time zone with a 9.1. (A25-54)

Pittsburghers loved the Winter Olympics!  In addition to NBC’s coverage Feb. 8-23, Channel 11 delivered original content to viewers with the only local news crew in PyeongChang, South Korea.

  • Local coverage included: More than 100 produced stories, 83 live reports from South Korea, 15 "Ice Desk" shows on Facebook Live reaching more than 815,000 people, 14 Olympic Zone shows and 1 30-minute Olympic special.
  • Channel 11 was #1 among all LPM markets (A25-54) for the majority of Olympic programming, including: M-F Daytime, Weekend Daytime, Late Night/Prime Plus, Replay and Olympic Zone, and was Top 3 for Opening and Closing Ceremonies and Prime Average.

Channel 11 continues to be the number one choice for local news in Pittsburgh on social media, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
