Cold rain moves into the area Friday ahead of chilly weekend

PITTSBURGH — A cold rain settles back into the area Friday with the steadiest rain after lunch into the evening. Colder temperatures could cause some of the rain to mix with snow in spots, especially north and east of Pittsburgh.

A Freeze Warning will start the weekend as low temperatures are forecast to dip below freezing early Saturday morning. A new record low temperature for Saturday is possible. Our forecast includes a drop to 27 degrees Saturday morning, the record low temperature is 30 degrees set in 1983.

If you’re headed out during the day Saturday, pull out the winter coat, the hat and the gloves. Wind chills will hover in the 20s and 30s throughout the day-and you may see few flurries.

Spring makes a rebound Sunday. After another frosty morning, highs should climb back into the mid 50s-with several hours of dry weather so you can get some outside pictures with mom.
