A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service until 9 p.m. It is in effect for the northern portion of our viewing area.
But you’re going to need to get ready for the hottest day so far this summer as heat and humidity will combine to make it feel like it’s in the upper 90s Thursday afternoon.
The heat index will top the 90° in more than half the nation Thursday as a large dome of high pressure over the southeast continues to pump hot, humid air across much of the country.
A cooling shower or storm could provide some relief late in the day Thursday, but most areas will not see rain. There is a better chance of showers and storms again Thursday night and Friday as a front approaches the area. Some of the rain will be heavy and localized flooding will be a concern.
Stay with Severe Weather Team 11 for updated forecasts and timing of severe weather as we head toward the weekend.
