Foggy start, overcast most of the day Thursday

PITTSBURGH — Some areas could have a foggy start early Thursday, especially around Pittsburgh, and points north and west of the city.

Wildfire smoke and clouds will keep us overcast most of the day, and there could be a pop-up shower.

Most areas won’t see rain, and our dry stretch of weather continues. We haven’t seen much more than a trace of rain in the last week, and so far September rainfall is running more than one inch below average.

If you plan to do some fall planting or lawn work this weekend, you’ll need to water.

And you may need to fire up the furnace. Temperatures early Saturday and Sunday will dip into the 40s, with some areas in the 30s, as another shot of fall-like weather settles in.
