Sunny, cool conditions ahead of Freeze Warning early Friday morning

PITTSBURGH — Sunny and cool conditions will persist today. Highs rise into the 50s this afternoon, and temperatures will elevate near 70 degrees this weekend.

A Freeze Warning will be in effect from 1 AM tonight through 9 AM Friday morning. Protect sensitive plants. Lows will fall into the upper 20s and lower 30s.

The next few days will be dry and calm. Rain returns Sunday. Wet roads and isolated thunderstorms are possible. This weekend will be full of events, including the Pittsburgh Marathon, so be sure to check in with Severe Weather Team 11 often for updates on Sunday’s rain timing.

There will be a ton of sunshine during the day, but temperatures will only warm into the 50s, nearly 15 degrees below normal.

It will be another cold night Thursday night with another freeze likely. Low temperatures will drop to or slightly below freezing. Some of the colder valleys will start the day Friday in the low to mid-20s.

A warm-up is coming for the weekend, but clouds will be on the increase Saturday. Showers and a few thunderstorms are possible Sunday.
