Winds picking up through the day Wednesday

PITTSBURGH — After a pleasant Tuesday with highs in the upper 60s, things will turn breezy.

Winds will pick up Wednesday, with gusts over 30 mph possible through the day. By mid-morning, winds could gust over 20 to 25 mph, with stronger winds forecast for the afternoon and evening.

Milder temperatures will also settle into the area, with highs in the low 70s. That’s about five-to-10 degrees above normal for this time of year.

A weak system will bring cooler weather Thursday, but no rain. Most of our area is unusually dry, with several counties now included in a Drought Watch. Our next best chance for wet weather may come from the remnants of Hurricane Delta after it makes landfall later this week. By late Sunday or Monday, some of that moisture could fall as rain here.
