Rain builds back in tonight ahead of strong winds, potential storms

PITTSBURGH — You'll need an umbrella tonight if you're out walking the dog. Steady rain will be moving in after sunset. Temperatures will fall only into the mid-50s overnight and the winds will pick up, too. Expect occasional gusts to 35 mph overnight.

Monday will bring wild weather conditions to our area. Showers and thunderstorms will be moving through, especially by mid to late morning. Any storm that forms will be capable of damaging wind gusts and an isolated tornado. Lightning and locally heavy rainfall are threats.

The winds will be strong outside of any thunderstorms that develop. Winds of 20 to 30 mph will blow with gusts up to 50 mph.

A wind advisory is in effect from Monday morning at 6 a.m. until Monday evening at 8 p.m. Sustained winds will be between 20-30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. A High Wind Warning will be in effect for parts of Mercer, Venango, Butler, Clarion, Armstrong counties and the ridges, where winds could gust up to 60 mph. Secure any loose items you have outside before bed Sunday night.

This powerful weather system will bring the potential for power outages and downed trees. Stay alert to changing weather conditions.

The temperatures will gradually fall through the day with mid-60s early and falling to the 50s through 5 p.m.
