Periods of rain, snow will move across area Sunday evening

PITTSBURGH — You’ll need your winter coat or an umbrella this evening as periods of rain and snow move across the area. This precipitation will exit the area late tonight giving way to a partly cloudy sky overnight. There may be some patchy fog overnight with lows in the mid-20s.

Monday will bring a partly sunny sky as mid and high clouds build in with the approach of our next weather system. Highs will reach the mid-40s with an east, southeast wind.

Rain will develop late Monday night and into Tuesday morning so make sure you have your umbrella again. Rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.6 inches are possible through the day on Tuesday. Breezy conditions will also develop late Monday night into Tuesday as the weather system crosses.

The Mon Wharf will remain closed Monday. According to the Pittsburgh Parking Authority, the Stanwix Street side is expected to be opened Tuesday morning. The Authority will attempt to open the entire Wharf by Wednesday morning if possible.

Any moisture left over on Wednesday will be in the form of snow as colder air moves in with a northwest wind. Lake-effect snow showers may persist into Thursday.
