Showers likely through Thursday morning as cold front passes through

PITTSBURGH — Showers are likely through the morning as a cold front passes western Pennsylvania. Have a sturdy umbrella with you this morning because winds will be strong out of the west at around 15 mph and gusting near 30. The cold front will pass this morning, then calmer weather returns after lunchtime.

Slightly cooler and drier air flows in behind the front. Rain clears and clouds fade as the new airmass moves in. If you want to make outdoor plans, aim for later this afternoon and this evening before sunset.

High pressure will aid in quiet weather for Good Friday. There will be sunshine and mild temperatures tomorrow.

The weekend will be split. Rain returns Saturday with another system, and that system will also bring cooler air. Sunday will be dry, but much colder. Have your coat on when you go to sunrise service. Sunday morning temperatures will be in the 30s. Even though the sunshine will be back, highs will only reach the lower 50s Easter Sunday.
