High summer-like temperatures to kick off the weekend, rain scattered throughout

PITTSBURGH — The weekend starts with some of the hottest weather since last summer. High temperatures will climb into the upper 80s to low 90s, nearly 20 degrees above normal for this time of the year. If we hit 90, it will be the earliest 90 degree day since 1996. The record high temperature for Saturday is 92 set in 1911.

Scattered showers and a few storms will be possible late day so stay weather aware. Any storm that develops could bring the threat for heavy downpours, damaging winds, frequent lightning, and hail.

Sunday will not be as steamy, but another round of showers and storms will be possible. Check the Severe Weather Team 11 forecast live on Channel 11 News before you head outdoors.
