Rain, snow mixing across region will keep roads mostly wet

PITTSBURGH — Rain will mix with snow before midnight, and while most roads will be wet, our team of meteorologists will be carefully watching road temperatures for any threat of ice as the system develops.

A wintry mix of rain and snow will keep most roads wet through early Friday, but a few areas could see some slushy accumulation or slick spots.

If you head south of Pittsburgh, expect mainly rain. From Pittsburgh north to Butler, snow will mix with rain through early Friday before changing to all rain by daybreak. North of Butler and east into the ridges of Westmoreland and Fayette counties, colder air will mean snow lasts a little longer and there could also be some freezing rain.

Winds will also pick up with this system and temperatures will be falling through the day Friday. Plan for colder wind chills.

The weekend starts dry, but another fast moving storm will bring light snow to the area on Sunday followed by much colder temperatures.
