Strong storms could bring the threat of damaging winds, hail Tuesday

PITTSBURGH — It will be full-blown summer much of the week, with heat, humidity and occasional showers and storms.

Pop-up storms could bring a few heavy downpours again Monday. Rain will be spotty, but any storms that do form could bring heavy rain and numerous lightning strikes.

Muggy weather could set the stage for strong to severe storms Tuesday, bringing the threat for damaging winds and hail.

Right now, the morning looks dry, but if you are headed out after lunch, check the Severe Weather Team 11 forecast. Thunderstorms will be scattered at first-but could quickly develop and organize, with heavy rain and gusty winds making it difficult on the roads. Frequent lightning will be possible, along with small hail.

Power outages will be possible in the strongest storms, so charge your portable devices and download the Severe Weather Team 11 app for the latest watches and warnings.

Unsettled weather with more storms sticks around through the week, and our team of meteorologists is also watching the potential impacts of Tropical storms Marco and Laura.
