Temps climbing into 90s over holiday weekend, relief several days away

PITTSBURGH — Find a cool spot to beat the heat this weekend, as temperatures climb into the 90s. A stretch of hot weather is settling into the area, and relief could be several days away.

Try to head outdoors early before temperatures start to heat up, or late in the day as temperatures slowly cool off.

If you will be outside during the hottest part of the day, stay hydrated, take frequent breaks and keep a close eye on young children and the elderly.

Also, don't forget about pets! Give them extra water and places to cool off.

Our heat wave will continue into next week, and as humidity levels rise, it will feel more uncomfortable.

This kind of heat can be dangerous or even deadly, especially inside unattended cars. In as little as 20 minutes, temperatures inside a parked car can climb well over 100 degrees.

Do not leave children or pets in a closed vehicle with the windows up.

Severe Weather Team 11 will be tracking this heat wave, bringing you the latest forecast on all platforms.
