Snow will mix with rain at times Sunday night

PITTSBURGH — UPDATE 10:23 p.m. - PennDOT has temporarily reduced speed limits on Interstate 80 in Butler, Clarion and Jefferson counties due to winter weather conditions.

Speed limits will be reduced to 45 miles per hour on Interstate 80 from the Ohio border to the 97/Route 219 DuBois-Brockway exit in Jefferson County. Commercial vehicles are also restricted to the right (travel) lane while the reductions are in effect.

PennDOT is urging drivers to not drive if they don’t have to.

The speed restrictions will be in place until further notice.

You’ll need a way to stay dry tonight as snow moves in from the west. Snow will mix with rain at times across the area and cut down on snow totals. Light snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches are possible across Mercer, Venango, and Clarion Counties with isolated higher amounts of 3 inches possible.

For the Pittsburgh area, I'm not expecting much in the way of snow accumulation due to rain mixing in although some areas may see a coating to 0.5 inches in heavier bursts.

Temperatures will be in the mid-30s tonight, so icy conditions are not expected and temperatures will continue to rise through into the mid-40s by sunrise Monday. Winds will also increase overnight with occasional gusts to 30 mph.

Highs on Monday will be in the mid to upper 40s with showers at times -- so make sure you have the umbrella before you head out.
