Musical acts for Pittsburgh's 2017 Celebrate America event

It wouldn't be the Fourth of July in Pittsburgh without live music. Six acts are set to perform for the EQT Flashes of Freedom Celebrate America  event this year.

The following are scheduled to perform on the Main Stage at Point State Park:

Kardasz Brothers

Noon to 1 p.m. 

Brother duo Chris and Robert Kardasz have been performing classic hits from the 60s and 70s around the Pittsburgh region for more than 40 years.  They were featured twice in Ed Salomon’s book "Pittsburgh’s Golden Era Of Rock N Roll" and they have written and performed the Pittsburgh Penguins “The Mighty ‘guins” theme and “Raise The Jolly Roger” for the Pirates.

The Dorals

1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Dorals are a five-piece band from New Castle renowned for entertaining audiences of all ages with an wide variety of musical styles. Their focus is on party standards from the Baby Boomer generation to favorites from the 50s through the 90s. The Dorals have earned the reputation as one of the area’s best party-dance bands.

Jimbo & the Soupbones

3 p.m. to 4 p.m. 

Jimbo & the Soupbones cross musical genres without apology, resulting in a fresh, yet familiar blend of funk, soul, rock and blues that excludes no listener. At the core of this Soupbone collective is singer/songwriter/guitarist James “JIMBO” Jackson. Guitarist, Jason Caliguri, acts as the perfect bookend that keeps The Soupbones spirited show balanced. The funky grooves that this band delivers could not be attained without bassist Phil Wilkerson. Nicholas Tolkacevic speaks softly and carries big drumsticks. Rounding the group out is percussionist, Nate Vagias, a multi-instrumentalist with all the toys.

Jeff Jimerson & Airborne

4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Jeff Jimerson is a Pittsburgh-based singer, best known as the national anthem singer for the Pittsburgh Penguins for more than two decades. He also plays with his band Airborne. In 2011, Bleacher Report named Jimerson one of the eight best national anthem singers in hockey and is also credited in the 1995 Jean-Claude Van Damme Film, Sudden Death. He has played with numerous regional bands since 1970s including Tumblin Dice and T Dice. As the Penguins anthem singer, he has sung the national anthem during the Stanley Cup Finals in 2008, 2009, and 2016.

The Delaneys

6:30 p.m. to  7:30 p.m.

Celebrating their 20th year in existence, the Delaneys are currently promoting their 4th studio album, Bullfighter, produced by Grammy award winners Rick Witkowski (B.E. Taylor, Crack the Sky) and Joe West (Jodi + Rory, Jimmy Wayne, Toby Keith).  They are currently at work on their 5th album (TBA) due later this year.  The Delaneys have been privileged to be the supporting act for a few of their favorite groups, such as, Fuel, Candlebox, and Bret Michaels while continuing to tour regionally in 2017 and beyond.

Air National Guard Band of the Northeast

8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. 

A traditional Air National Guard squadron, the band consists of 40 personnel, all National Guard members and with civilian careers, who meet one weekend a month to rehearse and perform. Its ranks are filled with professional musicians, educators, students, administrators, salesmen, builders and other professionals. The band has received many awards, including the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and Pennsylvania Governor’s Unit Citation. The band’s annual concert tours have taken it overseas to Germany, Holland, France, the Azores, Antigua-West Indies, Norway, England and Denmark.  The band continues to travel nationally and perform a vital public affairs mission for the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard, and members of the band have been seen on National TV performing at events such as the Pocono 500 NASCAR race and the MLB World Series, among others.
