1 killed, another hurt in Morgantown shooting

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — One person is charged in connection with a shooting in Morgantown on Thursday that left one person dead and another wounded.

Morgantown police said they responded to the 200 block of High Street around 9 p.m. for a report of shots fired.  Lemir Ryvel Baker-Moore, 21, of Morgantown, was arrested and charged with murder.

The victim was transported from the scene and was later pronounced dead at Ruby Memorial Hospital. The name of the victim was not released as of Friday morning, pending notification of family.

A second person suffered a gunshot wound to his lower leg. David Annonio, 21, was found on Brockway Avenue and was taken to the hospital.

According to a release from the Morgantown Police Department, the victim and Annonio were involved in a physical altercation in an alley that runs between High Street and Spruce Street. During the fight, police said Baker-Moore allegedly fired multiple rounds from a handgun and shot both victims.

A Morgantown fire marshal saw a disturbance and was approaching the persons involved when the shooting happened. Baker-Moore was reported to have fled in a green Pontiac, which was found on Brockway Avenue. When police found the car, they also found Annonio wounded.

Baker-Moore was awaiting arraignment as of Friday morning.
