Vigil held for 19-year-old found fatally shot in vacant lot in Larimer

A vigil was held Wednesday night for a 19-year-old man who was found shot to death in a vacant lot in Pittsburgh’s Larimer neighborhood.
Police and paramedics were called about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday to the 200 block of Shetland Avenue after receiving a report of the shooting. Officers were also alerted by ShotSpotter of several gunshots fired in the area.
When first responders arrived at the scene, paramedics pronounced the man dead. Police said he was shot multiple times. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Cejay Jones.
Family and friends returned to the crime scene Wednesday. They hugged and cried as they created his name in candles. They also released balloons.
“I you love always and forever,” said Jones’ brother. “I am my brother’s keeper. I was supposed to protect you.”
No arrests have been made.
“It's going to be important, as with any homicide case, the community work hand in hand with the police to catch the shooters and put them in jail, where they belong,” Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Sonya Toler said.
The Pittsburgh Police Violent Crime Unit is investigating.
