3 arrested after shots fired in Marshall-Shadeland; guns, drugs confiscated

PITTSBURGH — Police recovered two loaded guns, marijuana, heroin, fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, cellphones, ammunition and spent shell casings from a Marshall-Shadeland house after reports of shots fired.

Officers responded to multiple calls for shots fired in the 2300 block of Mannheim Street around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety.

While responding, police were told that men had been seen entering a house. Officers knew the house had been shot at several times in the last month.

Police saw several fresh bullet holes in a rear window of the residence, along with fresh footprints in the snow leading to a back door. A man was also seen looking out of a second-floor window. Officers entered the house believing the structure was occupied and not knowing whether or not anyone was injured, public safety officials said.

Inside the house, police found Johvian Everett, 18, on the second floor. Everett had a warrant for his arrest and was taken into custody.

Raymond Harrison, 21, of Marshall-Shadeland, was also on the second floor and was taken into custody.

While clearing the house, Shayne Craighead, 21, was found hiding in a bathtub in the basement. Craighead  had a probation violation warrant and was taken into custody.

While in the basement, officers saw spent shell casings and several stamp bags on the basement floor. A search warrant led to the recovery of two loaded guns, marijuana, heroin, fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, cellphones, ammunition and spent shell casings from the house.

A neighbor said he thinks something needs to be done.

"Randomly, we hear shooting out here and it's frightening because you never know who it is," the neighbor said.

Everett, Harrison and Craighead’s charges include possession of controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, persons not to possess a firearm, paraphernalia, criminal conspiracy, hindering apprehension or prosecution, and possession of firearm with altered manufacturing number.

Everett and Craighead’s arrests clears several bench warrants. None of the suspects were injured and all three were taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
