3 charged in connection with violent home invasion in Bloomfield

Three people are charged after a violent robbery and burglary in Bloomfield.

Officials said three men pulled up in front of a South Mathilda Street home on Tuesday night. Two of the men allegedly broke through a window and held up a man, who was inside, at gunpoint.

Armed with an AK-47 and a pistol, investigators said Malik Williams and Deshaun Evans-Conner are believed to have broken into the home. A third suspect, Ryan Hart, is accused of driving the getaway car.

Police said a man woke up to the intruders in his room, demanding jewelry and guns. According to the criminal complaint, the victim “was forced at gunpoint to the first floor and was held there by one male, while the other looked through the house. (He) said the actor kicked him while he lay on the ground.”

After escaping with jewelry and a safe, investigators were able to identify the suspects using security camera. Officers recognized Evans-Conner and tracked him to a housing complex in the East Hills. Agents with the ATF and undercover officers made the arrests.

Investigators confiscated Rolex watches from the men, and said that a search warrant for the East Hills housing complex turned up guns, ammunition and marijuana.

All three suspects are facing robbery and burglary charges, and two of the suspects who held the victim at gunpoint are charged with aggravated assault.

They are scheduled to be in court in November.
