3 injured in crash that closed West End Bridge

Three people were injured in a multivehicle crash Sunday morning that forced the closure of the West End Bridge.

The crash happened around 9 a.m. on the West Carson Street side of the bridge. Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Sonya Toler said three vehicles were involved.

Toler said a person in a Jeep Cherokee was thrown about 15 feet from the SUV when it rolled over. Another person in the Jeep was taken to a hospital, as was a woman in another car.

All of the patients were taken to Allegheny General Hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.

The southbound lanes of Saw Mill Run Boulevard were also closed at the south end of the West End Circle while crews cleared the scene. The bridge and roadway reopened to traffic around noon.
