MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. — Authorities have made an arrest in a hit-and-run in McKees Rocks that left a man dead.
On Wednesday, detectives from the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit arrested Deria Mahone in connection with the incident. Mahone was operating the vehicle that struck and killed 23-year-old Nikkolas Poliak.%

Mahone, a 20-year-old female from the North Side of Pittsburgh, was lodged in the Allegheny County Jail.
“It’s been horrible,” said Alice Loose, Poliak’s mother.
Loose said her son just moved to McKees Rocks just six days prior to the accident. She was happy to see him turning his life around.
“He has come out of rehab,” Loose said. “For months, (he was) clean and signed himself up at CCAC in May.”
Despite the arrest, she still has a lot of unanswered questions and realized charging Mahone won’t bring him back.
