Banker buys up newspapers to hide his DUI mugshot

PALMYRA, NEW YORK — A bank executive bought dozens of newspapers from around his town in hopes of keeping readers from seeing his DUI mugshot.

New York State Police arrested 43-year old Joseph Talbot last week and charged him with driving while intoxicated.

Police also charged him with refusing to be fingerprinted or photographed after he told troopers he didn't want his mugshot in the paper.

The editor of a local paper, Times of Wayne County, printed Talbot's mugshot along with posting it on its website.  The newspaper estimates that Talbot gathered up somewhere between 900 and 1000 copies of the paper from at least eight locations, at a cost of $1.25 each.
