Boy suffers broken leg after being pinned between cars outside Langley K-8

PITTSBURGH — A 13-year-old boy was pinned between two cars Thursday afternoon while crossing the street outside Pittsburgh Langley K-8 in the city’s Sheraden neighborhood, Channel 11’s Lori Houy reported.

A witness told Houy that one of the cars accidentally went into reverse, pinning the boy against another car that was parked.%

“She said she didn't realize she was in reverse and hit the gas,” David Rickerd, who was picking up his nephews, said.

Rosalee Lewis called 911 after witnessing the accident while leaving a Family Dollar.

“Two cars were there. The little boy was coming through and it looked like he fell,” Lewis said. “It was alarming to me.”

Police said the boy broke his leg. He was crossing the street to get picked up by his grandmother.

Rickerd tried to calm the boy.

“’You'll be OK. You're in good hands. Don't worry, you'll be fine.’ He said, ‘OK’ and they loaded him up on a stretcher and took him to the hospital,” Rickerd said.
