PITTSBURGH — A burglary suspect tried to hide on the roof of a home in Perry North, Pittsburgh police said.
Officers received a call Tuesday evening about a possible burglary on Riverview Avenue. When they arrived at the house, police said the basement door was open and they saw someone moving around the basement.
Police went inside and found wet footprints next to cut copper pipes. After searching the home without finding a suspect, officers saw an open attic door.
Police said they found 38-year-old Michael Guerriero, of Butler, on the roof. They said they also found copper pipes and cutting tools in the basement.
Guerriero faces charges of burglary, possessing instruments of crime, prohibited offensive weapons and flight to avoid apprehension.
Guerriero has criminal histories in both Allegheny and Butler counties. He remained in the Allegheny County Jail as of Wednesday.
