Car gutted by flames after accident on Route 28

MILLVALE, Pa. — Flames destroyed a car Saturday morning after an accident on Route 28 in Millvale.

Emergency crews were called about 7:30 a.m. for the reported single-vehicle accident in the northbound lanes of Route 28, just past the 40th Street Bridge, according to a post on the Millvale Volunteer Fire Department (Station 191) Facebook page.

Photos show the aftermath of the fire, which gutted the car after flames were first reported in the engine compartment.

Everyone who was in the car was able to get out, the fire department’s post said. Minor injuries were reported.

Route 28 was closed for about an hour.
