Cellphone video shows violent brawl at nuisance Pittsburgh nightclub

PITTSBURGH — Cellphone video sent to Channel 11 shows a violent fight that happened Saturday inside of a Pittsburgh nightclub.

The video was reportedly recorded at the height of the fight inside Serenity, formerly called Trapper’s Club, involving security and patrons.

Channel 11 learned that Trapper’s Club reopened under the new name Serenity four years ago, was classified as a nuisance bar more than a year ago. The state’s Liquor Control Board has also revoked its license in the months since.%

The owner of the club recently lost a final appeal, so at the time that the video was shot, the club was not legally allowed to open its doors to the public.

The club is also the site of an unsolved murder that occurred in May of 2012.

Monica Hawkins’ 20-year-old son, Donte, was shot and killed when a gunman opened fire on patrons.

“I hope someone really takes action because I feel like my son's case was pushed under the rug – it (the bar) didn't even stay closed for a week,” said Hawkins.

Police said they responded to an assault on a woman early Saturday morning, but it is unknown if it is connected to the brawl.

Channel 11 has been unable to make contact with the club’s owner.
