Construction worker shocked outside Mt. Lebanon High School

MT. LEBANON, Pa. — A construction worker was shocked Sunday morning in a parking lot outside Mt. Lebanon High School, officials said.

The worker was taken to the burn center at UPMC Mercy Hospital after an electrical line was hit, officials said.

“There was a construction crew on scene that was doing some demolition and renovation work on the parking lot and struck a main power feed going through the lot,” Mt. Lebanon deputy fire chief Kevin Maehling said.

The worker’s condition was not immediately available, but Maehling said the worker suffered “fairly significant injuries.”

Channel 11 News was told that electricity was knocked out at the high school, and school district officials have canceled classes for the high school only. All other Mt. Lebanon schools will have class.
