Corrections officer accused of assaulting wife, stepdaughter

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. — A corrections officer at the Washington County Jail was arrested and accused of assaulting his wife and stepdaughter.

Andrew Taylor was arrested and charged with assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.

“She's the stepdaughter. She's 5 years old. When she was getting a bath, the mom discovered bruises on her forehead, buttocks and inside of thighs,” said East Bethlehem Township Police Department Chief Mark Pompe.

According to the criminal complaint, Taylor’s wife confronted him about her daughter’s bruises, which turned into a violent argument.

Police said Taylor, "grabbed her by the neck, then punched her in the stomach" and "threw her on the bed, grabbed her hair, pulled her off the bed."

Taylor’s wife suffered from a bruise to the arm, knuckle marks on her stomach, scratches on her neck and scrapes on her elbow, according to police.

The mother refused treatment, but the 5-year-old girl was taken to Children’s Hospital for treatment.

Officials tell Channel 11 that Taylor tried to file a reverse protection from abuse order against his wife.
