Creepy clown sightings reported in Beaver Falls, Ellwood City

Two more reports of a “creepy clowns” have people on alert and police on the lookout.

On Thursday, an Ellwood City man reported he was out for a walk when he kept hearing a “jingling noise.” The man said he turned about and saw a person dressed like a clown looking at him.

The man said he continued to walk while the costumed person followed him. Soon after, a car pulled over and picked up the person dressed like the clown. The man said there appeared to be three other people in the car.

Police searched the area and said it seems like a harmless prank, but they are taking it very seriously.

"It sounds like teenagers. I hope that's all it is. Like I said, our main goal is to prevent it before anything else would happen,” said Ellwood City police Sgt. Michael McBride.

On Monday, police in Beaver Falls received a report that someone wearing a clown mask was banging on a vehicle’s window while sitting in traffic.

A witness called 911 and reported that a teenager wearing a clown mask got out of a Chevy Traverse, walked up to a red Jeep in front of him, and banged on the window of the Jeep. The witness told police the driver of the Jeep appeared startled and quickly drove away. When police arrived, both vehicles were gone.

There is nothing illegal about walking around in a clown costume, but police said they are concerned because, just this week, a man in a clown mask reportedly stabbed a teen to death in Reading. Police said they just want to take precautions to make sure nothing like that happens here.
