Dog dead, man hospitalized after hit-and-run in Lawrence County

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Pa. — An accident over the weekend in Lawrence County turned into a crime after a driver hit a man and a dog and then left the scene.

Logan Kind, 24, told Channel 11 News he was goose hunting Saturday morning with his best friend and his friend’s dog along Georgetown Road in Washington Township. He said he heard a car quickly approaching, and his friend’s dog took off running toward the road.

“I saw him running toward me in the road. I tried to block him, but he ran into the road and was hit. I was hit, too,” Logan said.

The dog died, and Logan was hospitalized. His ankle andwas crushed and the top of his foot was shattered. Logan said the driver stopped, but quickly took off after he realized both him and the dead were hurt.

“He got out of his car (and) said, ‘I'm sorry.’ (He) saw I was injured and took off,” Logan said. “I thought he was going to get help. My friend said, ‘No, he just left.’”

He said he hopes the person responsible comes forward.

“I just hope he can live with himself. I hope he comes forward, because it really was an accident,” Logan said.

Logan said he and his friend were in shock and although they saw the driver, they can’t remember much about him.

Police said they’re looking for a white man in his 20s with a thin build who drives a small, dark sedan. Authorities said Georgetown Road is in a very rural area and is usually traveled by locals.
